Book #3 – Happy Days with the Naked Chef (April 2012) – Gift it
Most people will have a Jamie Oliver cookbook sitting in their bookcase. It is probably an impulse buy or a gift from a loved one. Do you remember the pleasure you felt when you received the Jamie cookbook? You must have browsed through the pages with excitement and probably cooked a couple of recipes a few times. And most likely you would have put it back into a shelf and forgotten about it. But did you know that Jamie’s cookbooks tell a story? In between recipes and even within the instructions, there’s always a story. Hence I decided that Jamie deserved to be read from cover to cover.
He is exciting, funny and entertaining. He is adept in making cooking appear like a no-brainer task. If truth be told, I decided to add Happy Days to my Twelve Books challenge because I needed to find a fast and easy read to put me back on track of my monthly quota. Two weeks and many many dog ears later, I actually cooked a fish recipe, tried a salad dressing and now planning an easy dessert for this weekend. Jamie’s recipes use fresh ingredients, plenty of herbs and are very simple to cook.
If there was one thing I took out of Happy Days, it is that I am not growing enough herbs in my garden.
