Note to new readers: This post is part of my 30 Days of Writing Practice. I am allowing blocks of 10, 20 or 30 minutes of my day solely to putting my swirling thoughts on paper. No going back to edit which will only serve to stop the stream of consciousness. My writing buddy and I, we call it writing from the heart. Please read my introduction for the full story.
8am rush hour
I jump into the car. Heck, I am jumping out of my skin. I can’t wait to start writing. Writing has become a fever. I read a few more chapters of “Writing To The Bones” last night. And a lot of what the author wrote, Kat already told me in our email exchanges. I’ve got a pencil by my bedside and I am underlining lines that jump out of the page at me. There are many. They are delicious lines, if you are into this kind of thing.
The bloke is driving today (he lives in www.adoboandco.com). It is Monday and oh goodie, Counting Crows is singing my all time pick me up song “Mr.Jones”. I quite like how I segued on Day 5 into a song. I’m going to make it a habit here. Let you in, into my music library. Because the music I listen to, is what I am! So hit the play button below and keep reading.
When I am in the car with Ariel, I can’t wear perfume. It gives him a headache. So I don’t wear any and I am tamad (lazy) to bring it in my bag. (Note to self, bring the bottle of perfume to work. Self answers, it is too heavy noh.) Oftentimes, Gabo will remind me to wear perfume when Dad’s not driving and not with me in the car. Because I forget, as wearing perfume is not a habit. I tell you, that boy is so attuned to our marriage dynamics. He is so sensitive to my inner workings, not sure if it shows on my face, or I just generate energy that radiates to him. Despite Gab’s current occupation with Minecraft (online strategy game), he is not oblivious to his surrounds. Mabuti naman.
The song ends. Ariel is now listening to sports talk radio. It’s funny how I usually start talking just when the news is on. I get hushed straightaway. I don’t know why I pick this moment to talk. 80% of the time. It’s just one of those things. The sports talk is interspersed with current events such as the latest on The Voice or Masterchef (TV shows are current events these days). They also have funny segments. Thank god for these non-sport chatter, or I’ll completely tune out. I can talk to Ariel about matters of the house when they’re not talking about sports. I tell you, if showbusiness makes the Philippines go around, sports makes Australia go around. Folks just go berserk with footy fever. Not the hooliganism kind, mind you. When Aussies meet each other on corridors, it’s either we talk about the weather or sports. I pick the weather. It’s usually “gorgeous one day and perfect the next ” in Sydney.
I spent ten minutes telling you about this car ride story. I will spend another 15 minutes of writing more stories for my writing buddy. We are on Day 26 and so far we have not skipped a beat in our writing marathon.
It’s easy writing today. Tomorrow is a heavy post day. I am in two minds whether to announce Day 7 on myGloryBox FB Page. Probably not. You will need to come here on your own accord tomorrow, I think. No push from me.
Boom. Writing is done I can now get on with the rest of my day. Have a badass week ahead.
Always from my heart,
ChaR-g
